Chicago Sports
The Bears season is over. Thank god. Somehow the Bears managed to go 9-7 this year, and still had at least 3 games they should have won. Yet by no means were they a good team. The only thing I can take from this is that the Bears followed suit this year in the NFL and made absolutely no sense. I knew along all year the Bears were not a good football team, but almost made the playoffs. Kyle Orton simply wins games, which is why I think he can be our quarterback of the future. Before his injury Orton was a pro bowl QB, and never recovered after he hurt his ankle. Looking forward to the offseason Wide Receiver is clearly the top need. The Bears have failed to address this need in the past via free agency (see Mushin Muhammad, Brandon Lloyd, Marty Booker) and the draft (see Mark Bradley, Earl Bennet, Justin Gage, Bobby Wade) so I have no idea what the Bears plan to do now (cough, Jeremy Maclin, cough). The Bears also have a big hole at safety, which I’m assuming they address through the draft.
The Bulls suck. I no longer care about the team, only the progress of Derrick Rose. There are chemistry issues, size issues, lack of talent issues, and many more problems. The future is bright however, hopefully we can add a few weapons around Derrick Rose and sign a superstar in the summer of 2010 (LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Amare Stoudamire).
The White Sox also confuse me. Since 2004 Kenny Williams has proven me wrong at every opportunity (Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik, Freddy Garcia and Brandon McCarthy for John Danks and Gavin Floyd) so I can no longer doubt him. Yesterday I heard a Gavin Floyd for Brian Roberts rumor however, and would be extremely disappointed For a number of reasons. As of now it appears Williams and Ozzie Guillen has Chris Getz penciled in as the starting 2nd basemen and Brian Anderson/Jerry Owens sharing time at CF. Two huge holes remain at 3rd base and one spot in the starting rotation. Now I’ll just wait for Kenny to work his magic.
The Blackhawks are the one team that makes me happy. With young stars Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews the faces of the franchise for years to come (and leading all star vote getters in the entire league) the future is bright. However until we prove we can beat Detroit we will remain in 2nd place.
