Empires

6 months ago I told you to check out American Taxi because they were going to explode, well they were recently signed to Virgn Records, so they are certainly on the right track.  Now I am advising you to listen to the band Empires.  With ex-members of The Academy Is… Empires is well known to many people in Chicago.  Their debut album “Howl” came out about a year ago.  This album has some of the best variety I have heard on a CD in a long time.  I chose not to post a song because a single song can’t summarize them. Go to their myspace and listen, “I Want Blood” is a really hard rock song while “Hayley” is one of the more beautiful songs you will hear.  “Spit The Dark” is an incredible introduction song, very inspiring, it sets a great tone for the next 14 tracks. My personal favorite “Under The Bright Lights” could possibly be a poltical song, but the beauty of music is that you can interpret it however you want to and let it help you.  I take this song as no matter what kind of shit is going on in the world you can always ignore it and just enjoy yourself for one night.  I could talk about the rest of the songs but instead I’d prefer you listen to them.  Just check out Empires.
